Star Wars Battlefront was one of the most anticipated games of 2015. Coupling with the release of The Force Awakens proved a great tactic, with Battlefront selling over 12 million copies by December 2015. Despite the decent sales, Battlefront fell short of fan expectations. A lack of upgradeable items, a real ranking system and just an overall lack of depth to the game made sure its online presence died off pretty quickly.
It seemed like it was rushed. EA have had 2 years to right their wrongs, and on October 6th (October 4th if you pre-order), we will be able to see for ourselves if they have learned their lesson. The beta will include 2 scenarios. First, players will wage war on Naboo, fighting as either the Republic Clones, or the Separatist Droids in the all new Galactic Assault game mode.
The next new game mode on show will be Starfighter Assault, a 24 player game mode centred around spaceship battles between 2 teams. The 24 player will be accompanied by an additional 20 AI players on each team, adding up to a total of 64 fighter ships all twisting, boosting and blasting their way around an objective.
EA have promised more information about the Beta at next month’s Gamescom. Use the sidebar to subside to our monthly newsletter to keep up to date with all things gaming.
